With players at the Miami Open in Key Biscayne, Florida gearing up for championship matches this weekend, professional and recreational tennis players, alike, know keeping themselves injury-free is the key to staying in the game.

Gautam Yagnik, M.D., a Baptist Health Medical Group orthopedic surgeon with Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute,  talks about treatment and prevention of one of the most common injuries that tennis players encounter, tennis elbow. Dr. Yagnik also offers some more advanced treatment options for cases that require a more aggressive approach.

“Most patients we see with tennis elbow get better with rest and non-invasive treatment, starting with RICE – rest, ice, compress and elevate,” says Dr. Yagnik, who specializes in sports medicine conditions and injuries that affect the upper extremities, like the shoulders and arms.
