Watch Now: Championship Taste Serves Support Up for Homestead Hospital

Guests revved up their support of children’s medical services at Homestead Hospital last night by taking part in the 4^th Annual Championship Taste at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Chefs from more than 20 South Florida restaurants served culinary delights to patrons who gathered to raise money for children’s healthcare services at Homestead Hospital. Organized by the Pineapple Ladies of Homestead Hospital Foundation, an all-volunteer group, and supported by The NASCAR Foundation, proceeds from the event benefit Speediatrics at the not-for-profit hospital.

Betty Jane France, founder and Chairwoman Emeritus of The NASCAR Foundation, was honored at the event for her ongoing commitment to improving healthcare for children. Ms. France established the kid-friendly Speediatric units in both Homestead and Daytona Beach. The units are decorated with cheerful racing-themed decor, creating an environment that helps lessen the anxiety a child often feels when hospitalized. Each year, more than 50,000 children are treated at the two hospitals.

Francisco Medina, M.D., medical director of the Children’s Emergency Center at Homestead Hospital, also was honored for his work and dedication to bettering the health of children in the South Miami-Dade community.

Celebrity Chef Irie Spice showcased his flavorful pumpkin soup for the crowd, and Your Orlando DJ, silent and live auctions provided additional entertainment.
