‘#GLS16’ Ranks as a Top Trend on Twitter
Gold medals from the Rio Olympics and international news dominated headlines and Twitter on Thursday, Aug. 11. But #GLS16 – the hashtag for Global Leadership Summit 2016 – emerged as one of the most popular trends on Twitter. South Florida leaders and local employees joined the global conversation.
“Attending the Global Leadership Summit allows us to fine-tune our leadership skills and learn from the very best,” says Brian E. Keeley, president/CEO of Baptist Health. He’s pictured left with Rev. Dr. William W. White, chairman of the Baptist Health South Florida Board and senior pastor at Christ Journey Church.
The annual event, held Thursday, Aug. 11, and Friday, Aug. 12, is organized by the Willow Creek Community Church. The summit is broadcast from Illinois to different regional and global hubs, including several locations in South Florida: Christ Journey Church in Coral Gables, Christ Journey Church in Kendall and Island Community Church in Islamorada. Those South Florida locations attracted more than 600 participants, according to Rev. Guillermo Escalona, director of Pastoral Education at Baptist Health.
“Besides sharing great wisdom and skills, GLS speakers emphasized the importance of core identity, life change and character. The key message: Truly effective and impactful leadership is a result of who we are and how we relate to others,” says Rev. Renato Santos, corporate director of Chaplaincy Services for Baptist Health.
