Miami HEAT, Miami Cancer Institute and Entercom host HEAT.HELP.CURE. Radiothon benefiting cancer research

“Dribble Drive” to raise additional funds for the cause

MIAMI, FL — November 6, 2018 —HEAT.HELP.CURE. – a philanthropic partnership among the Miami HEAT, Baptist Health’s Miami Cancer Institute and Entercom – will take to the airwaves and streets of South Florida tomorrow, with the first HEAT.HELP.CURE. Radiothon benefiting cancer research and care at Miami Cancer Institute.

The HEAT.HELP.CURE. Radiothon – representing “Join the HEAT. You can HELP. Find a CURE.” – airs tomorrow from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. across five of Entercom South Florida’s most popular stations: 101.5 LITE FM, Power 96, 102.7 The Beach, 104.3 The Shark and 790 The Ticket.

All proceeds raised through the Radiothon will benefit cancer research and care at Miami Cancer Institute, which opened in January 2017. The next-generation cancer treatment destination provides unparalleled expertise in the prevention, treatment and survivorship of individual cancers, and access to the world’s latest cancer discoveries, most effective treatments and best outcomes – all right here in South Florida.

The entire community is encouraged to tune in across the five stations to hear inspiring stories from Miami Cancer Institute patients, doctors and nurses, along with community leaders and members of the Miami HEAT organization.

While the Radiothon is broadcasting ‘live’ from Xfinity Plaza at AmericanAirlines Arena, Jonathan Zaslow of 790 The Ticket will take to the streets in the first “Dribble Drive,” an event during which he plans to dribble a basketball on a 13-mile trek from Miami Cancer Institute to the Arena. Zaslow aims to raise a minimum of $1 for each of the estimated 20,000-plus bounces of the ball, and his passion for the cause has inspired a host of area luminaries to join him on the journey.

A celebratory sendoff at Miami Cancer Institute will be emceed by Dale McLean, In-Arena Host of the HEAT, and feature remarks from Miami Cancer Institute’s Founding CEO and Executive Medical Director Michael Zinner, M.D., Miami HEAT legend Glen Rice, and Miami HEAT VP of Corporate Partnerships and Activation Chris Marciani. Burnie, the team’s beloved mascot, also will make an appearance.
