Mariners Hospital earns 2019 Leapfrog Top Hospitals award for outstanding quality and safety
Tavernier, FL – December 17, 2019 – Mariners Hospital has been named a Top Rural Hospital nationally by The Leapfrog Group, an independent watchdog organization focused on improving healthcare standards. The Leapfrog Top Hospital award recognizes achievements in patient safety and quality and is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive honors American hospitals can receive. Mariners Hospital is one of only 118 hospitals out of 2,100 eligible facilities in the country to be named a Top Hospital. This is the third time the Keys hospital has earned the Top Rural Hospital honor.
“We are pleased that Mariners Hospital has been recognized by The Leapfrog Group for the high standard of care that our physicians, nurses and staff deliver every day,” said Rick Freeburg, CEO of Mariners Hospital. “Our team members are highly skilled, dedicated and compassionate, and they care deeply about the patients and families we serve. This prestigious award is a direct reflection of our their unwavering commitment to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in the safest healthcare environment possible.”
To qualify for the Top Hospital distinction, hospitals must rank top among peers in the 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Survey, which assesses performance across many areas of patient care, including infection rates, surgical safety, maternity care and medication errors prevention. The rigorous standards are defined in each year’s Top Hospital Methodology.
“We are pleased to recognize Mariners Hospital as a 2019 Leapfrog Top Hospital,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “This demonstrates extraordinary dedication to patients and to the Keys community. We congratulate the board, staff and clinicians whose efforts made this honor possible and who share pride in this achievement.”
