First Florida International University Family Medicine Residency Program At West Kendall Baptist Hospital Graduates
West Kendall Baptist Hospital and the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine celebrated the inaugural residents of the Family Medicine program and introduced the 2016-2017 incoming cohort. The graduation represents the fulfillment of both organizations’ long standing commitment to develop home grown clinicians to address the shortage of primary care physicians in South Florida.
With four residents per year, the residency program offers an individualized approach – preparing clinically skilled physicians who work effectively as part of larger healthcare systems. Residents receive training in quality assessment and improvement, research and public policy, while developing leadership and team-building skills through collaboration and community engagement. As the first residency program at West Kendall Baptist Hospital, the program is uniquely positioned to provide a rich and personalized residency learning experience while training and retaining physicians to serve the South Florida community.
