Concrete poured for the new Fishermen’s Community Hospital in the Florida Keys
Marathon, FL – January 24, 2020 – Construction for the new Fishermen’s Community Hospital is right on schedule, according to officials. The new hospital is set to open in the fall of 2021.
The pouring of approximately 530 cubic yards of concrete for the hospital’s foundation began this week, including concrete footers encompassing approximately 35,000 square feet. The foundation of the new hospital is scheduled to be completed by the end of February.
The new state-of-the-art hospital will have a 24/7 emergency department, inpatient and intensive care unit beds, outpatient observation beds, inpatient and outpatient surgery, laboratory and pharmacy services, oncology, diagnostic imaging and cardiopulmonary services.
“Fishermen’s Community Hospital continues to demonstrate its commitment to the Middle Keys,” said CEO Rick Freeburg. “Seeing the progress is exciting for our dedicated team members and the patients, families and community we serve.”
The current modular facility, which was constructed after Hurricane Irma destroyed the original hospital, will continue to provide a broad range of healthcare services to the Middle Keys until the new hospital is completed.
