Baptist Health South Florida Hospitals Receive National Recognition for Quality Surgical Care

MIAMI, FL – November 21, 2017 – South Miami Hospital and Doctors Hospital, part of Baptist Health South Florida, are among 66 hospitals nationwide to be recognized by the American College of Surgeons for achieving meritorious outcomes for surgical patient care.

The American College of Surgeons’ National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP®) is the only nationally validated quality improvement program that measures and enhances the care of surgical patients. Under the voluntary program, hospitals are required to track the outcomes of inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures and collect data that directs improvements in patient safety and surgical care.

“The commitment to excellence from our highly talented teams of surgeons, nurses and surgical staff is the driver that allows us to continuously provide the best care for patients entrusted to us. The recognition from this outstanding program validates their dedication to delivering high quality care at Baptist Health South Florida hospitals,” said Brian E. Keeley, president and CEO.

The 66 hospitals commended achieved the distinction based on their composite quality score related to patient management in eight clinical areas in 2016.

The American College of Surgeons is a scientific and educational organization of surgeons that was founded in 1913 to raise the standards of surgical practice and to improve the care of the surgical patient.
