While the battle over Medicaid expansion for Florida’s uninsured wages on in Tallahassee, Baptist Health South Florida [1] and the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University [2] (FIU) are coming together to help the South Miami community get improved access to healthcare.
The South Miami Green Family Foundation Neighborhood HELP program [3] will provide a community-based strategic approach to improve healthcare access in the area.
The program will enlist 100 families, who will work with either a health outreach worker or a medical student team to assess their health and chart a course of action to set goals to improve their overall health.
Additionally, the families will be able to visit a Mobile Health Center, which will provide primary health services.
The Baptist Health South Florida News team was there for the announcement and to tour the Mobile Health Center.
