For the third consecutive year, the Baptist Health South Florida Training Facility in Davie hosted the Dolphins Family Fit Fest, presented by Baptist Health [1]. More than 1,500 participants were treated to a day of fun with appearances and interactions with both current and former Miami Dolphins [2] players, NFL-style football drills, Zumba classes that featured both children and adults, free health screenings and advice on nutrition.
Guests aged 18 and under were able to compete in various drills for a chance to win prizes and see how they measure up against professional athletes. They competed in events such as the 40-yard dash, broad jump, vertical leap and the quarterback toss.

Baptist Health’s “Five A Day” booth gave away free fruits and vegetables as part of a campaign to help educate people about proper nutrition. Lucette Talamas, a registered dietitian with Baptist Health, says: “It’s another reminder in our community to eat your fruits and vegetables everyday.”
Ms. Talamas also offered advice to parents struggling to get their children to eat more fruits and vegetables. “Always encourage them to at least taste it as it can take over 15 exposures and tastings for a kid to actually like fruits and vegetables,” she said.
Miami Dolphins players, Jay Ajayi, Walt Aikens, and Sam Young, all had the same advice for children: Get outside and play. The earlier they are active the better off they will be in the future, they said.
